The manuscript is in generally good condition.

Script

A single hand has written the main text using a cursive script.

Claus Christophersen Lyschander has written items 1 and 4 and has made marginal notes in the main text.

Decoration

New chapters begin with enlarged initials.

Additions

Fol. 69v contains some pen trials.

Binding

The binding is made of repurposed parchment originally containing a Latin missal. The title IVS | GOTLAN|DICVM is written on the front cover.

A paper cover once served as the outermost cover and contains the title DEN | GAMLE | GVLLANDS | LOW. During restoration in 2013, this paper cover was removed and placed in a plastic sleeve.

History

Origin

Kålund, Katalog Ip. 375 dates it to ca. 1600.

Provenance

The manuscript was owned by Claus Christophersen Lyschander, who wrote items 1 and 4. Árni Magnússon purchased the manuscript from Frederik Rostgaard's collection in 1726 for 1 mark and 8 shillings.
