Paginated 1-149 as the later additions (smaller leaves, slips, gatherings of paper in octavo) are not included.
Layout
Originally, only the versos were intened for manuscript descriptions while the rectos were left blank for notes. However, the majority of the leaves, both rectos and versos, are now filled in with manuscript descriptions.

Written by Árni Magnússon.

Additions

Occasional additions by one of Árni Magnússon's scribes are found.

The index, including the (often elaborate) information about the acquistition of the manuscripts, were checked by Dr. Guðbrandur Vigfússon, who then provided most of the manuscripts with a shelfmark in the margins.

History

Origin
Written in Iceland or Denmark. According to ( Kålund 1909 p. v ) the manuscript is written in the years 1721-1728. On f. 51v Árni Magnússon added: Hæc ultima scripsi 1723. The additions (ff. 159-61 and 166) carry the dates 1721, 1723 and 1728. It is difficult to determine the time of origin of the individual pieces, as the manuscript is made up of the original codex to which slips and loose quires gradually were added.
