Skrifarar og skrift

Written by Björn Jónsson, the son of Jón Bjarnason who commsioned the manuscript.

Following Björn Jónsson's death, Magnús Magnússon took over the copying work.

Spássíugreinar og aðrar viðbætur

Fol. 1v, the verso of the title page, contains two quotations from the Bible; fol. 2r contains a short note about the two parts of the Kvæði: Ad Lectorem.

The first flyleaf carries a personal name and the date 1792.

Band

An envelope addresed to the priest Jón Bjarnason of Ballará was used for the upper pastedown. The first fly-leaf carries a personal name and the date 1792.

Uppruni og ferill

Uppruni

Written in Iceland in the last quarter of the eighteenth century. In the epilogue, dated á Núpi 1787, Magnús Magnússon informs that the collection is commissioned by his father's brother Jón Björnsson and written partly by Jón's son Björn, partly - after the death of Björn - by Magnús Magnússon himself.
