Collation

Originally consisting of ten quires.

  • I: Fols 1-2 (originally the fourth and fifth leaf of the first quire).
  • II: Fols 3-8. Hereafter, the entire third quire is missing.
  • IV: Fols 9-14. Two leaves are missing between fols 13 and 14.
  • V: Fols 15-22. This quire is intact.
  • VI: Fols 23-27. The second leaf (between fols 23 and 24) is missing.
  • VII: Fols 28-30 The first three leaves are missing.
  • VIII: Fols 28-30. The last three leaves are missing.
  • IX: Fols 36-38. Only the first three leaves of this quire are preserved.
  • X: Fols 39-40. There is a large lacuna between the two extant leaves.
Catchwords on the last page of each quire.
Condition

As indicated above, there are several lacunae in the manuscript; Árni Magnússon marked the lacunae on the preceding leaves.

Script

The first hand occurs on 1ra-40ra and is a gothic bookhand.

The second hand occurs on 40ra-40rb, is written is in a gothic cursive.

The third hand occurs on 40v and is a gothic cursive. The scribe calls himself Halvard Ruffe

The fourth hand also occurs on 40v and is a gothic cursive from the second half of the fourteenth century. The text is signed Martin Nielſsönn..

Decoration

Rubrics in red and initials in various colours.

Additions
After the book block, six paper leaves in octavo are sewn in;
  • On the first leaf some notes in Árni Magnússon's hand informs on some Norwegian Law Texts translated into Danish;
  • fols 2-3 contain a copy of item 4
  • fols 4-6 contain a copy of item 3.
Both copies are made by one of Árni Magnússon's scribes.

Bound in a grey cardboard binding.

History

Origin

Norway, s. XIV3/4 ( Seip 1955 233, 218 ) Kålund's dating: the second half of the fourteenth century ( Katalog I 376 ).

Provenance

Item 5 is signed by Martin Nilssøn who presumably also was in the possession of the manuscript.

According to the AM-slip the manuscript belonged to Gerhard Miltzovfrom Voss.

Acquisition

Árni Magnússon acquired the manuscript in Bergen.
