History

Origin

The manuscript was written in Denmark. It has been dated c. 1400 by Kristian Kålund ( Katalog I p. 341 ). Later, Peter Skautrup dated the manuscript to c. 1350, except from The Chapter on Sorcery which he hesitatingly dates to the beginning of the fifteenth century ( Skautrup 1933 p. xvi ). However, all of the manuscript is now thought to date from as early as c. 1300 ( Kroman 1943 p. 57 ).
