There are catchwords on the versos of the leafs.

Ástand

The leaves are damaged due to wear and humidity.

Band

Previously the loose leaves were kept in a paper cover but in the 1880s the leaves were bound in a Kålund binding - a half-binding with black cloth spine and corners and the boards were covered in red paper in the pattern of combed marble. Size of old binding: 314 mm x 208 mm x ? mm. A note Árni Magnússon had written was found on the first flyleaf: Ur Alexandri Magni Sögu — fragment and Kålund noted the date 25. janúar 1886.

In nóvember 2004 the manuscript was rebound; the new spine and corners were replaced with a burgundy Winchester and the boards were covered in Cockerell marbled paper in a French curl pattern. The title and running title was done by the gilder, Jørgen Thorsen in Herlev. Size of binding: 310 mm x 218 mm x 12 mm.

Fylgigögn

On the paper cover where the loose leaves once were kept, Árni Magnússon wrote: Ur Alexandri Magni Sgu fragment feinged af Þöru Þorsteins dottur ä Setberge. Er ur þeirre gmlu Alexandri Magni Sgu [sem teken er ur Carminibus Galteri Insulensis], enn ei ur þeim nyu translationibus, sem ur Dnsku girdar eru.
