Blaðefni

Hand-made paper with watermark.

Blaðfjöldi
29. 296 mm x 176-185 mm.
Skreytingar

At the beginning of the texts blank spaces (3 lines) have been left blank for large initials. Smaller initials (1-2 lines) within the texts were filled in by the scribe. Most initials are emphasised by means of bold lines and additional hairlines and strokes. Occasionally, the initials are decorated with floral ornaments.

Band

The binding for all three parts is a full cardboard binding (grey) with waste paper used for the pastedown. It is presumably from Jens Jacob Weber's time, i.e. ca. 1771-1780 and measuring 300 mm x 190 mm x 5 mm.

On the front cover, the shelfmark and the titles of the texts were written in dark brown ink: No 49 | Þättr af Halfðane Svarta | af Harallðe Harfagra Dofra föstra | Hauks Härbrokar | af Olafe Konge Digurbein.. On the spine, the remains of two stickers for the shelfmark and the running title are found. Kålund noted the date 17. september 1885 on the front flyleaf, indicating when he used it.

Uppruni og ferill

Uppruni

The manuscript was written in Iceland. Kålund dates it to the seventeenth century (Kålund: Katalog I, s. 35).

Aðföng

The whole manuscript, of which this was a part, belonged to Þorbjörg Vigfúsdóttir. Subsequently it belonged to her nephew Þórður Jónsson and Árni Magnússon received the codex from him (cf. Jón Helgason: Småstykker s. 354-355).
