Due to exposure to humidity especially the last part of the manuscript is stained and brittle; the upper part of f. 181 is missing.

Fols 1-11 are written by Ásgeir Jónsson

The rest of the manuscript is written by a principal in Oslo called Jens Nilssøn.

Skreytingar

Several of the initials are very large, lavishly ornamented and adorned with dates and information stating the name of the scribe together with the time and the place the transcription was made.

The first eleven leaves, containing the prologue and the first part of Ynglinga saga, were added later.
Band

The manuscript is full-bound (parchment-bound). Árni Magnússon wrote the title on the spine. Size of binding: 298 mm x 212 mm x 43 mm

Árni Magnússon tells on two inserted slips: Þessa bök hefi eg fenged af Domino Christiano Wormio 1709 and Þetta epterfylgjande er ritad epter codice Academio, þeim er eg liet setia hryggenn ä, og hefur hann þä heille vered enn hann er nu. patet ex Collatione [Codex Academico = Jöfraskinna]

Uppruni

Written in Norway, 1567-68 and c. 1688–1707 (fols 1-11).

The main part of the manuscript is written in 1567-68 by Jens Nilssøn, headmaster in Oslo. The initial on fol. 103 informs about the origin of this part: Ritad a Rindini i Snikivdalsokn þan. XXI Maij ar. 1567 (written inside the stem of the Þ).

The first eleven leaves are written c. 1688–1707 by Ásgeir Jónsson.
