The text is divided into 4 numbered chapters.

Philip Lavender in his article Skjaldar þáttr Danakonungs. A lost fornaldarsaga? demonstrated that Hrings saga og Skjaldar circulated under paralel titles: — Skjöldunga saga and — Saga af fornkonungum í Danmörku og Svíaveldi.

Spássíugreinar og aðrar viðbætur

On the pastedown there is the shelfmark „Acc 61“ and the title Magus saga jarls written in pencil; there are also two titles written in ink: „1. Wolsunga Saga.“ and „2. Skoledunga Saga.“

On f. 102r there is a note: „(Efter et haandskrivt, som tilhörer prof: B. Thorlacius.)“ and a date 1816.

Band

Half-bound in the 19th cent. Boards covered with marbled paper (dark gray, light gray and blue); light brown leather spine and corners.

A provenance sticker affixed to foot of spine: “Nykjöbing Cath-Skole Bibliothek”.

Six panels on the spine with glided embossing of three horizontal lines separating each panel.

Uppruni
The manuscript was written in Denmark at the beginning of the nineteenth century. The date 1816 is attested on f. 102r.
Ferill

The manuscripts Acc. 51-62 came from Nykøbing cathedral school. Most of them are Fredrik Schaldemose's transcriptions of Norse texts.

The manuscripts were given as a gift to the Nykøbing Katedralskole by Frederik Schaldemose.

Aðföng

The Arnamagnæan Institute in Copenhagen acquired the manuscript from the school in April 2007 as a gift.
