Ástand

The manuscript is in good condition.

Skrifarar og skrift

Written in one hand.

The hand is similar to the hand of Þorkell Sigurðsson from the first part of AM 395 fol.; therefore the manuscript could be dated to the middle of the eighteenth century.

Skreytingar

No decorations.

Spássíugreinar og aðrar viðbætur

On the second flyleaf, a commentary in Danish with the heading: Notia Exemplaris, starting: Dette Exemplar er skrevet effter et andet ehsst Exemplar | paa Charta, hvilket er den 179 Num: in 4to paa Universi|tetets Bibliotheqve... is found.

The recto side of the third flyleaf is blank but on the verso side there are some provenance notes:

  • Luxdorph
  • Schaldemose 1816
  • 1818 foræret Nykjóbings Kathedraskole af Hr. Adj. Schaldemose.

Uppruni og ferill

Uppruni

Probably written in Iceland in the second half of the eighteenth century.

If the identification of the hand is correct the manuscript must be written in the second half of the eighteenth century, as Þorkell Sigurðsson was born in 1724.

If the signature on the verso side of the third flyleaf is Bolle Willum Luxdorph's, then the manuscript must have left Iceland before Luxdorph's death in 1788.

Ferill

The manuscripts Acc. 51-62 belong to the collection of manuscripts Frederik Schaldemose bequeathed to Nykøbing Katedralskole. Most of them are Fredrik Schaldemose's transcriptions of Old Norse texts.

Aðföng

The Arnamagnæan Collection in Copenhagen acquired the manuscript from the school in April 2007 as a gift.
