Umbrot

The manuscript is written in long lines; The Calendar has 16 ruled lines per page whereas The Book of Hours has 12 ruled lines to the page: 600 mm x 380 mm.

Skreytingar

13v: 650 mm x 400 mm Virgin and child: Mary sitting on a throne with the Infant Jesus in her lap; the faces are almost completely effaced. Painted in a Flemish style c.1390-1400 with a 'Pink canopy', but ornamented with a Dutch border with gilded treefoils in penwork.

Gilded main initials and painted border decoDescs. Painted textframes at the beginning of every hour. Minor gilded initials over 2 lines with simple penwork alternating in red and blue ink. Lombards on one line in blue and red.

There are some later additions on originally blank leaves:

  • fols 104v-105v: A prayer to the Virgin.
  • fols 161v-162v: A prayer to the Virgin: „van onse vrouwe.“
  • f. 232v: „voer eem cruce“.
  • fols 235v:9-240v: Later fifteenth century additions, in the same hand as „voer eem cruce“ on f.232v.
