Blaðefni

Blaðfjöldi
i + 172 + i; fols 13v-16 bis r, 72v and 171 are blank. 143 mm x 102 mm
Tölusetning blaða

Foliated by Kristian Kålund 1-172 incl. the flyleaves and 6 bis and 16 bis.

Umbrot

The calendar is written in long lines with 16-17 lines ruled in red ink. The prayers are also written in long lines with 15-16 written lines per page. Red and blue majuscules 1-2 lines in size occur. There are also rubrics in red and a single one in blue.

Skreytingar

The flourished initials, in the size of 3-11 lines, are red or blue, some of them with gilding in the red or blue. Flower-motives in white, yellow and sometimes green are either inside the initials or inside the frame surrounding the initials.

Fol. 105r contains a gilded blue pen-flourished major initial.

On fol. 73r there is a major initial, a littera florissa in blue in a gilded frame with flowers. It is combined with a border with flowers in red and blue, and leaves in red, green, and gold.

fols 2-12 contains a calendar

f. 13r contains a computistic table.

There are two miniatures:

  • fol. 16 bis v: Initial with The Annunciation of the Virgin Mary inside a room with an arched ceiling. The Virgin Mary has a thin golden halo, her hair falling down over her shoulders, in flowing drapery standing foran a reading desk with an open book. The archangel Gabriel standing left for her, also in flowing drapery, holding a scepter (?) in his left hand, the right is liftet in a sign of blessing. The Holy Spirit is pictured as a white dove and three golden rays of light beaming upon the Virgin Mary. Outside the picture of the Annunciation there is a border with strewn, naturalistic plants: roses, peas (with flowers), pansy, and a snail.
  • fol. 17r: Initial with The Nativity of Christ. The initial is all in gold with a blue frame. In the foreground there is the kneeling Virgin Mary and The Naked Christ Child lying in front of her on her blue cloak. The Virgin Mary is again pictured with a thin halo and in flowing drapery. The Christ Child has beaming rays of gold emanating from him. Behind the Mother and Child we see the stable and the ox and the asen, Joseph is forwarding the stable with stics in his hands. An evening landscape, with the sky in violet and orange, is in the background. Under the major initial there are 3 lines of text. A border is surrounding the initial. Above there is a dark blue starry sky and two singing angles (the one of them holding a scroll). In the bottom of the border there are the shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock.
