Lýsing á handriti

Blaðefni

Parchment.

Blaðfjöldi
24. 173 mm x 125 mm
Tölusetning blaða

Foliated in red ink in the upper right hand corner by Kristian Kålund

Kveraskipan

The manuscript has 3 gatherings each consisting of 8 leaves:

  • I: 1+8, 2+7, 3+6, 4+5
  • II: 9+16, 10+15, 11+14, 12+13
  • III: 17+24, 18+23, 19+22, 20+21

Ástand

The manuscript ends defectively; the last leaf once containing the last few lines of the saga is missing.

Umbrot

Written in long lines with 22 lines per page. The rubrics were once written in red ink. This ink is now totally effaced leaving the parchment in a lighter colour than the rest.

Skreytingar

Coloured initials occur.

The tall letters of the first lines in all pages have ornaments extended vertically in the upper margin.

The opening of the saga, f. 1r, is supposed once having a major initial, the letter H with an extension all the way down the margin; however, this initial is now effaced and only the extension can now be seen. A new initial in black ink was made later on.

Band

Bound in a limp parchment cover, the gatherings are fastened with three thongs.

Fylgigögn

On an accompagnying slip pasted to the upper board Árni Magnússon copied the heading: „hier byriar vpp saugu virduligs herra Stephani prothomartyris patroni Snoksdalsk kirkiu“
