Written in Iceland, c. 1300 ( Guðmundur Þorláksson 1881 xiii) and Kirsten Wolf ( Wolf 1995, p. xxxiii). Kålund's dating: The first half of the fourteenth century ( Katalog II 64 ).
The origin and the history of the fragment are obscure. On a slip of paper belonging to all the AM 655 4to fragments there is a note in Árni Magnússon's hand: Fragmenta antiqvæ scripturæ. Non nulla reliqvis fasciculis insunt sed perpauca.
