Uppruni og ferill

Uppruni

Written in Iceland assumingly by a Norwegian or a scribe educated in a Norwegian scriptorium due to to the style of writing and language forms exclusively or principally used in Norwegian texts. Kristian Kålund dated it the first half of the thirteenth century, whereas Ole Widding (Widding 1952 s. 163, 171) later dated it more correctly to the fourth quarter of the thirteenth century, a dating that later has been agreed by Stéfan Karlsson (Stéfan Karlsson 1978 s. 94-95).

Ferill

The fragment was part of a codex called Höskuldstaðabók, once belonging to the church of Hskuldstair in Húnavatnssýsla. According to the account on the AM-slips it later to Einar Brandsson of Galtarnes who also torn it apart belonged was later torn apart by Einar Árni Magnússon possibly owned another two leaves from this mansuscript, containing fragments of Maríu saga and Pétrs saga, however these have gone.
