Additions

On the title page (2r) there are the following additions:

  • a note “(afskrever efter et haandskreft, som tilhörer | hr. professor Thorlacius, af Schaldemose).”,
  • a place name “Nykiöping på Falster”,
  • a date “1816”,
  • a provenance note “foræret Skolens bibliotheket af hr. Schaldemose.”

On f. 33r there are the following additions:

  • a note “(Efter et haandskrift, som tilhörer prof. Thorlacius.) | skrevet af Schaldemose.”,
  • a date “1816”.

Binding

Half-bound in the 19th cent. Boards covered with marbled paper (gray,ornage and blue); brown leather spine and corners.

Red label with a gilded embosed title on the front cover “SAGAN | AF | SORLA STERKA | OK HALSI”

A provenance sticker affixed to foot of spine: “Nykjöbing Cath-Skole Bibliothek”.

History

Origin

The manuscript was written in Denmark by Frederik Julius Schaldemose in 1816, as the notes on the title pages (f. 2r and f. 33r) suggest.

Provenance

The manuscripts Acc. 51-62 came from Nykøbing cathedral school. Most of them are Fredrik Schaldemose's transcriptions of Norse texts.

The manuscripts were given as a gift to the Nykøbing Katedralskole by Frederik Julius Schaldemose.

Acquisition

The Arnamagnæan Institute in Copenhagen acquired the manuscript from the school in April 2007 as a gift.
