• The text is written in one column with 27-29 lines per page and 8-10 words per line.
• The written area measures ca. 225 mm x 140 mm.

The leaves are in folio, but the front and bottom edges are folded in order to make them fit the quarto format.

Due to the folding, the condition of the leaves is rather poor. The material is very fragile, especially close to the spine and at the bottom outer corners.

The leaves have been repaired using regular white paper.

There are many traces of wear; mostly stains and tears.

The scribe has not been identified yet.

The first letters of a paragraph or a line are often larger (2-3 lines) and some of them are pen-flourished.

Árni Magnússon wrote on the recto-side of the front flyleaf (205 mm x 160 mm): Þetta um Grænland

er uttekid ur bok i folio, hvar ä er (eg ä bokina) Noregs Lỏgbok Magnuss konungs, Danicè.

This part of the manuscript was written in Denmark or Norway in the second half of the sixteenth century. Kålund's dating: The sixteenth century (Katalog II, s. 197).

The manuscript was part of an originally larger manuscript.

At some point before Árni Magnússon got hold of the manuscript and split it, it was in the possession of Hans Lindenow

• II: fols. 6-13 (6+13, 7+12, 8+11, 9+10)

• The text is written in one column with 21-22 lines per page and 5-7 words per line.
• The written area measures ca. 170 mm x 110 mm.

The leaves are rather clean except for the edges.

The edges are untrimmed.

Stains in different colours: yellowish stains in the upper half of fol. 13 and traces of greenish-grey stains on fol. 7r.

Fols. 6r and 13v are slightly darker than the other leaves due to dirt.

The main scribe wrote fols. 6r-13r.

A second scribe wrote fol. 13v.

The initials (taking up 1-2 lines) were written slightly larger than the surrounding letters and are partially decorated with additional strokes.

On fol. 13v, the scribe of the letter added two words in the outer margin.

An AM-slip (205 mm x 157 mm) in Árni Magnússon's hand, appended to fol. 6r, reads: Om Grỏnland. Kiỏbt paa Etats Raad Rostgaardz auction, i en fasciculo, Num. Manuscriptorum 604.

The manuscript was probably written in Denmark. Kålund dates the first item to ca. 1600 (Katalog II, s. 197) while the letter is dated to 1606 (cf. the colophon).

Árni Magnússon bought the manuscript, of which this was a part on Frederik Rostgaard's auction in 1726 for 3 mark and 12 shilling Kålund 1909s. 101.

• II: fols. 18-21 (18+21, 19+20)
• III: fols. 22-25 (22+25, 23+24)

The leaves are relatively clean.

The edges are untrimmed.

Fols. 14r and 25v are slightly darker and dirtier than the other leaves, indicating that they used to be the outermost leaves of the manuscript.

The scribe has not been identified yet.

The first initial is pen-flourished and takes up ca. 4 lines. Other initials take up 2-3 lines.

On the title page, a large decorative tailpiece is found.

Árni Magnússon added corrections to the text in darker ink.

This part of the manuscript was presumably written in Denmark or possibly Iceland. Kålund dates it to the second half of the seventeenth century Katalog II, s. 197.

It is unknown how or when Árni Magnússon acquired this part of the manuscript.
