History

Origin

Written in Iceland. Kålund (Katalog over Den Arnamagnæanske Håndskriftsamling) dated it the thirteenth century, whereas Hreinn Benediktsson (Hreinn Benediktsson 1965 p. xliv) later agreed with Konráð Gislason (Konráð Gíslason 1846 p. lxxxv) in dating it to the second half of the thirteenth century.

Provenance

According to the AM-slip concerning Pétrs saga postola this part of the manuscript belonged to Þorsteinn Sigurðsson. He once got it from Northern Iceland, but not from Austfjörður. The history of — Páls saga postola is unknown.

Acquisition

From the AM-slip telling only the story of Pétrs saga postola it can be infered that Árni Magnússon acquired the two sagas seperately. Árni got — Pétrs saga postola from Þorsteinn Sigurðsson in 1716. The acquisition of — Páls saga postola is unknown.
