The manuscript, which is written in Iceland, c. 1525 and c. 1700. It of two parts; the first two leaves originate from c. 1525 and the rest, written by Árni Magnússon, is from c. 1700.
4r-v contains a note from Árni Magnússon about the provenance of the parchment leaves 1 and 2. aptan vid Noregs lògbok Magnuff konungs lagabæters, þä sem Þorgeir Hakonar son hefur ritad, og eg feck af Capitain Jul.
