Physical Description
Parchment.
The two leaves are conjoint.
The outer sides of the bifolia are so worn that reading is impossible. There are also parts of the leaves where the writing is faded or illegible. A tear in f. 1 being sown in old times has caused a loss of the most of the 9th line; the upper part of f. 2 has a hole.
The fragment is written in long lines with 34 lines per page.
The fragment is written in a practiced Icelandic gothic bookhand.
A nineteenth century hand has indicated the content of the two leaves in the top margin of f. 1: “Bartholomæus saga postola. cfr. 90-93b” and in the bottom margin of f. 2v: “De Johanne baptista”.
The AM-slip reads: “Fra Sr Þorsteine Ketilssyni 1728. Er ur Bartomæus Sỏgu”.
History
The MS is written in Norway. Kristian Kålund dated it to the fourteenth century whereas Agnete Loth has dated it c. 1250.
According to an AM-slip in Árni Magnússon's hand he got the fragment from the Priest Þorsteinn Ketilsson (1688-1754).
