Written in one column with 38 to 40 lines per page. Running titles are on fols 9v-12v. On fol. 5r space is left blank to indicate a lacuna.

Script

Jón Gissurarson wrote fols 1-7.

Additions

On fol. 1r Árni Magnússon added in the top right corner: “Med hendi Jóns Gissurs | sonar”, referring to fols 1-7. Fol. 8 was later added for Árni Magnússon by one of his scribes.

Binding

Bound in a grey cardboard binding with “No 202. i | Norna-Gests Saga. 2 Exempl:” written on the front board.

Accompanying Material

Árni Magnússon wrote on a slip pasted in the front of the manuscript: “ur bok med hendi Jons | Gissur sonar (elldre enn 1646.) | er eg feck af Sr Hogna | Amunda syne.” This refers to the first item of AM 202 i fol.

History

Origin

Written in Iceland in the seventeenth century. The two items belonged originally to different manuscripts.

Acquisition

According to the AM-slip, Árni Magnússon got the manuscript to which fols 1-7 originally belonged from sr. Högni Ámundason.
