Physical Description
Paper.
Due to the fact that the manuscript is split up from a larger codex there are two kinds of foliation: the leaves are numbered 513-531, their position in the original codex, but they also have been renumbered 1-20.
Written in double columns except for the later inserted f. 1, which is written in long lines. There are no chapter headings, but each chapter is numbered, and a blank space is left for a large initial on the first word.
History
AM 181 fol is written at Útskálar, Iceland. Kålund dated it to the middle of the seventeenth century (Katalog over Den Arnamagnæanske Håndskriftsamling), whereas Desmond Slay argumes that it was probably written between 1638 and 1652 (Slay 1972, p. 23a). Peter Springborg, however, puts forward that that the manuscript was mainly written in the 1640'es (Springborg 1977 p. 81-86).
