Condition

The codex is not well preserved; in particular the first leaf has suffered and is now so dark that reading is difficult. A good deal of the leaves are mouldered or torn. The manuscript ends defectively.

Layout

The manuscript is written in double columns.

Decoration

Initials occur in varying colours up to f. 61.

Additions

Árni Magnússon has marked several defects on the preceding page.

Accompanying Material

There is an AM-slip pasted in front of the codex. It reads: “fra Gudmundi Sigurdz syne a Alftanese, til eignar 1704.”

History

Origin

Written in Iceland in the fourth quarter of the fourteenth century.

Provenance

On fol. 37 the name “eggert Bjornnsson” is written, and on fol. 49 “Anna Gudmundar Dottir”.

Acquisition

According to the AM-slip and AM 435a 4to, f. 39v, Árni Magnússon got the codex in 1704 from Guðmundur Sigurðsson of Álftanes: “Olafs saga Tryggvasonar, folio. vantar sumstadar. Komin til min 1704 fra Gudmundi Sigurdsyne á Alftanese.”
