Skrifarar og skrift

The original part of the volume is written by Jón Erlendsson.

Due to the volume originally being a part of a greater entity fol. 1 has been added by one of Árni Magnússon’s scribes, possibly Þórður Þórðarson.

Band

Bound in a BD standard binding with cloth spine and corners from 1980-81. 289 mm x 217 mm x 30 mm

Previously in a full parchment binding with laced-in single endband supports from the period 1700-1730. On the spine Árni Magnússon had written the title Knytlinga Saga. The old parchment binding is kept together with the manuscript in the box.

Fylgigögn
There is an AM-slip. On this Árni Magnússon wrote: Þeſſe Knytlinga ſaga er ur bok Monſieur Sveins Torfaſonar.

Uppruni og ferill

Uppruni
Written in Iceland. Kålund ( Katalog I s. 13 ) dated the manuscript to the seventeenth century, but Jón Erlendsson was a copyist from around 1625–1672, so the manuscript can be dated more precisely to that period.
