Condition

The leaves are relatively dark.

There are many modern repairs by means of Japanese paper (from 1981), especially at the corners and close to the spine.

Some leaves are slightly damaged in the bottom right the corner.

There are a few stains.

Script

Written by Eggert Jónsson from Akrar.

Decoration

The initials are larger than the main text (2-4 lines). Many initials show additional decoration and the letter "Þ" on fol. 25r has a face drawn into the bow.

The catchwords are decorated with a zigzag-line.

Additions

There are additions by the scribe in the margins.

In the top margin of fol. 1r, a later hand added the word “Hier”.

Binding

The current binding is a modern half binding made by Birgitte Dall in 1983. Included in the box of the manuscript is the former binding, a dark half binding that was produced under Kristian Kålund (ca. 1911-1913) with blue marbled paper on the boards. Before that, the manuscript was bound in reused parchment leaves from a Latin Psalter, which were taken off under Kålund and are now stored in AM Access. 7 d (Hs 107).

Accompanying Material

An AM-slip (128 mm x 76 mm) is located in front of the manuscript. Árni Magnússon wrote on it: “Hirdskrä med hendi Eggerts, gamla, ä ỏkrum. ur bok er eg fieck frä Skapta Josefs syne”
