Condition

The top of f. 1 including the first couple of lines are cut away. The vellum on f. 1v has gotten dark but with no damage to the text. The script on f. 2v is scraped off.

Layout

Written in long lines. ff. 1r and 2r have 27 lines whereas f. 1v has 29 lines to the page.

Decoration

No rubric is made for chapter 88, but “fra orkęyinnga jorllum” is written in the margin, most praobably by the scribe.

Binding

Bound in a cardboard cover from 1959.

History

Origin

Written in Iceland. Kristian Kålund once dated it the fourteenth century (KKKat). Later Oscar Albert Johnsen and Jón Helgason dated it c. 1300 (Johnsen & Jón Helgason 1941, p. 962).

Acquisition

In the bottom margin of f. 1r Árni Magnússon has given the following account: “Fra Gudrunnu ỏgmundar dottur i Flatey: 1707”. A slip in Árni Magnússon's hand pasted to f. 2r writes: “Fra Capitain Magnuse Arasyne 1727. og hafde hann þetta blad feinged ur Isafiardar Syslu”.
