Provided with a double rubrication; one in red ink inbetween the text and another in black ink in the margin.

Condition

The leaf is not well preserved and the vellum has several small holes in it.

Layout

Written in double columns and has 40 lines to each column.

Decoration

Initials occur in red and green.

Binding

Bound in a cardboard cover from 1959.

History

Origin

The manuscript is written in Iceland. Kristian Kålund dated it to the fourteenth century (KKKat), Oscar Albert Johnsen and Jón Helgason later dated it more precisely to the middle of the fourteenth century (Johnsen & Jón Helgason 1941, p. 959).

Acquisition

Árni Magnússon got the leaf in 1717 from his cousin, the lawman (sýslumaður) Ormur Daðasson - the mother of Ormur and the father of Árni were sister and brother. On an AM-slip Árni wrote: “Þetta blad ur Olafs Helga Sỏgu feck eg 1771. fra Islandi fra Mons Ormi Dadasyni”.
