Additions

On the top margin of f. 2r Árni Magnússon has written: “Ur Sverris Sǫgu”. On the top margin of f. 3r he has (erroneously) written: “Ur Hakonar Sǫgu Gamla”.

Accompanying Material

An AM-slip presumably concerning ff. 2-3 reads: “Þesse .2. blǫd hefi eg feinged af Jone Sal. Eggertssyne, og voru þä utan um Jardabok Jens Sǫfrenssonar, fogeta ä Islande”.

History

Origin

The manuscript is written in Iceland. Kristian Kålund (KKKat) has dated it to the fourteenth century, whereas Ole Widding (Widding 1960, p. 91) and Stefán Karlson (Stefán Karlsson 1967, p. 59) has dated it more precisely to the first quarter of the fourteenth century.

Provenance

Snorri Jónsson was the owner of f. 1. The Bailiff Jens Sørensen (Seffrynsson) used the bifolia f. 2-3 as binding for his court roll. After his provenance they belonged to Jón Eggertsson.

Acquisition

On f. 1r below the text Árni Magnússon has written: “Fra Sr Snorra Jons syni 1721”. The AM-slip, possibly concerning f. 2-3, reads: “Þesse .2. blohald hefi eg feinged af Jone Sal. Eggertssyne, og voru þä utan um Jardabok Jens Sohalfrenssonar, fogeta ä Islande”.
