The leaf is damaged by a few small holes that have resulted in loss of text.

Layout

The leaf is written in double columns with 41 lines to the column. The size of the columns are approx. 225 mm x 170 mm.

Script

The leaf is written in an Icelandic Gothic bookhand.

Accompanying Material

An AM-slip reads: “Þetta blad feck logmadurenn P. J. W hia Sira Audunne Benedictsyne utanum qver”.

History

Origin

The leaf is written in Iceland. Kristian Kålund has dated it to c. 1400 whereas Ólafur Halldórsson has dated it more precisely to the fourth quarter of the fourteenth century.

Provenance

The Priest Auðun Benediktsson was the owner of the leaf in that time it served as binding for a book. He gave it to the lögmaður Páll Jónsson Vídalín. Árni Magnússon wrote the following on an AM-slip: “Þetta blad feck logmadurenn P. J. W hia Sira Audunne Benedictsyne utanum qver”. Another note by Árni Magnússon on 1r reads: “utan af qvere i Saurbæ ä Kialarnese 1703”.
