An AM-slip together with a fragment of the old front fly-leaf is pasted to the front of the codex .

  • The AM-slip reads: “Olafs Saga þesse hefr | vered eign Jons ä Hialla | fỏdur Asgeirs.”
  • The former front fly-leaf has, now very pale, “Þesse boek er vel Schriffuen Aff | Sigurder Jonssőn Bunde a Frodaae i Sne |fieldsznæs Syssel a Isslande A þui Are | þa mann Schrieff effter hingad Burd | Herras Jessu Christi 1657” (followed by an illegible signature)
  • Below this another hand has added: “Þefa Bők A Gudrún Asgejrs Dőtter | Hueria Hennj Gaff Hejdurlegur Kiennimann S. Benj|dict Peturfon Ad Hestj þann 16 Junj 1673 | Jon Jonfon meh”

History

Origin

Written in Iceland in 1657.

Provenance

According to the information on the front fly-leaf, the manuscript belonged to Benedikt Pétursson from Hestur in Borgarfjarðarsýsla who gave it to Guðrun Ásgeirsdóttir of Hjalli in Árnessýsla 6 June 1673. The book also belonged to the father of Ásgeir Jónsson, Jón Jónsson who was Benedikt's cousin and married to Guðrún .
