Foliation 1-224 in red ink by Kristian Kålund.

Layout

Written on the inner columns of folded leaves with approximately 37 lines to each page. With the exception of the opening initial spaces have been left blank for initials.

Script

Two (perhaps three?) different hands; possibly Árni Magnússon's brother, Jón Magnússon and Jón Arnórsson. According to Jón Ólafsson's catalogue (AM 456 fol.): 'med hende Jons Magnuſsonar i Solheimum og Jons Arnorſsonar i Liäskogom ad eg meina'.

Additions
On the first of the three first flyleaves a hand from c. 1800 added: “Þetta er exſcriptum membranæ, ſem A. Magnæus kallar Olafsſögu fra Bæ fylgir ad meſtu leiti ordrett Snorra Sturluſyni, og hefir hun allvida hialpad mer med margar godar variantes.”
Binding

Bound in a half-binding with parchment spine and corners; the boards are covered with marbled paper. Árni Magnússon wrote the title on the spine but that is now almost worn off.

Previously, the boards were covered with written parchment from a Lectionarium brevarii in Latin (Island, s. XIV). Otto Ehlert removed it in the summer of 1911; it is now transferred to Access. 7c, Hs. 91 ff. 2-3.

History

No history available.
