Correspondance between Árni Magnússon and Páll Vídalín Concerning Bæjarbók á Rauðisandi and the Transcripts

In the correspondence a lot of confusion has been caused due to Árni Magnússon's mistaking of AM 73 b fol. for other manuscripts, especially AM 325 V 4to. On f. 30 Árni explains the truth of the matter: “Þetta er allt oriett, sem eg nu sie 1726 um hausted. Bok Laurusar lỏgmanns (mater þeirrar er lỏgmann Widalin ä med hendi Þorsteins Sigurdzsonar, og þeirrar er eg nu 1726 ä med hende Magnusar Einarssonar). er progenies þeirrar bokar er eg eignadist fra Gudrunu Eggertsdottur ä ä Raudasande. Er þar i þeirre membranå defect i einum stad, og liggur innani pappir med hende Sr Jons ä Lambavatne. Þad fyrsta þar af, er translatio ex Danico. hitt er fyllt ur einnhverre rettre Olafs sỏgu, forte þeirre er um hỏnd hỏfdu: Arne Gudmundzon, Jon Erlendzson, Torfe Jonsson, Amtmadur Müller. id postea inpiciam. Nunc inspexi, og er þad so.Bok Snæbiarnar (af hverre eg hefi Copie) er af sama slage og þesse med hende Þorsteins Sigurdzsonar. Eru badar ur Saurbæjar bokinne og badar eins fylltar epter Supplemento chartaceo med hendi Sr Jons, hvar af þad fyrsta er translatio ex Danico, og hitt annad ur membranå in 4to Arna Gudmundzsonar (Jons Ellendzsonar, Torfa Jonssonar) og synest, ad su bok hafi þä eins mutila vered og nu er.”
