History

Origin

Written in Iceland. According to AM-slip a), the first translation of Völsunga saga was made in the winter 1641-42 by Torfi Jónsson, later priest of Gaulvejarbær, commissioned by bishop Brynjólfur Sveinsson. The second translation must have been made before 1687.

Acquisition

According to AM-slip a), Árni Magnússon got the manuscript in 1704.
