A note on the bottom margin of f. 3v from the sixteenth century, most probably a pen-trial written at Skálholt, says: Veʀ broder avgmvnd med gvsd gvds nad | byskup i skalhollte giorvm godvm munnvm kvnigt. Bishop Ögmundur Pálsson, former abbey of Viðey (since 1515), was elected bishop of Skálholt 1519.
A note on f. 64v furthermore tells that the codex belonged to the Bishop of Skálholt, Brynjólfur Sveinsson: mier er sagt ad Brinjolfur Biskub eigi þessa bok en ecki JTS a T st (Jón Torfason, priest of Torfastaðir from 1646 to 1656)
An other note on f. 68r, written in a coarse hand, says: sier ion a þessv skrædv.
According to Kristian Kålund, ff. 1-4 are fragments from another manuscript, Agnete Loth, however, denies this ( Loth 1975 s. 116).At the bottom margin of f. 3r Árni Magnússon wrote: fra Sr Þorleife Arnasyne ä Kalfafelle 1711 . Þorleifur Árnason was a scribe of bishop Brynjólfur Sveinsson's, later to be priest at Kálfafell in Fljótshverfi (1659-1707).
