Athugasemd

The tile page before the saga is for Völsunga saga and there is no title page or rubric with the title of Mágus saga.

The text is divided into 80 numbered chapters. The text corresponds to the edition of Bragða-Mágus saga by Gunnlaugur Þórðarson.

The text is divided into four numbered chapters.

In his article Skjaldar þáttr Danakonungs. A lost fornaldarsaga? Philip Lavender demonstrated that Hrings saga og Skjaldar circulated under parallel titles: Skjöldunga saga and Saga af fornkonungum í Danmörku og Svíaveldi.

Spássíugreinar og aðrar viðbætur

On the pastedown there is the shelfmark Acc 61 and the title Magus saga jarls written in pencil; there are also two titles written in ink: 1. Wolsunga Saga. and 2. Skoledunga Saga.

On f. 102r there is a note: (Efter et haandskrivt, som tilhörer prof: B. Thorlacius.) and a date 1816.

Band

Half-binding from the 19th cent. Boards covered with marbled paper (dark gray, light gray and blue); light brown leather spine and corners.

A provenance sticker affixed to the foot of spine reads: “Nykjöbing Cath-Skole Bibliothek”.

Six panels on the spine with gilt embossing of three horizontal lines separating each panel.

Uppruni

The manuscript was written in Denmark at the beginning of the nineteenth century. The date 1816 is attested on f. 102r.

Ferill

The manuscripts Acc. 51-62 belong to the collection of manuscripts Frederik Schaldemose bequeathed to Nykøbing Katedralskole. Most of them are Fredrik Schaldemose's transcriptions of Old Norse texts.

Aðföng

The Arnamagnæan Collection in Copenhagen acquired the manuscript from the school in April 2007 as a gift.
