„Hier byriar vpp savgv vírdulígs herra Ste |phani prothomartítís. patroni Snoksdalsk |kirkiv“
Unger, Heilagra manna søgur II Ed. B
A copy of the faded rubric was added on a slip in Árni Magnússon's hand.
Parchment.
Foliated in red ink in the upper right hand corner by Kristian Kålund
The manuscript consists of three gatherings, each of eight leaves:
Written in one column with 22 lines per page. The rubrics were written in red ink. This ink is now completely faded, only a lighter colour leaving the parchment in a lighter colour than the rest.
The manuscript ends defectively; the last leaf, once containing the last few lines of the saga, is missing.
Initials in coloured ink.
In all the pages, the ascenders and descenders of the letters of the first line are ornamented.
The opening of the saga, fol. 1r, is once had a major initial, the letter H with an extension all the way down the margin; however, this initial is now effaced and only the extension is now visible. A new initial in black ink was added later.
Bound in a limp parchment cover, the gatherings are fastened with three thongs.
On an accompagnying slip pasted to the upper board Árni Magnússon copied the heading: hier byriar vpp saugu virduligs herra Stephani prothomartyris patroni Snoksdalsk kirkiu
Written in Iceland in the fifteenth century.
The manuscript once belonged to Snóksdalur Church in Western Iceland.
On fol. 17v in AM 435 a 4to Árni Magnússon wrote that he got the manuscript from Árni Hakonarsson and that it once belonged to Snóksdalur Church: Komin til min fra Arna Hakonarsyne. Hefur, öefad, til forna vered eign Snoksdals kirkiu.
