Historie og herkomst
AM 181 fol is written at Útskálar, Iceland. Kålund dated it to the middle of the seventeenth century (Katalog over Den Arnamagnæanske Håndskriftsamling), but according to Desmond Slay it was probably copied between 1638 and 1652 (Slay 1972, p. 23a). Peter Springborg, however, thinks that the manuscript was mainly written in the 1640'es (Springborg 1977 p. 81-86).
