The manuscript is written in one column with 32 lines per page. Contemporary rubrics in red. Chapter numbering and references to the content from c. 1600.
Two leaves are missing at the end of the codex and there are two lacunae, each taking up one leaf. The first is after fol. 85, the second after fol. 86. Blank pages have been inserted between fols 85 and 86, and fols 86 and 87, and after fol. 92 indicating the loss of text. The bottom margin of fol. 92 is excised.
Pen-flourished initials and plain majuscules occur in varying colours.
The manuscript was written in Norway or Iceland c. 1300. The manuscript is possibly written in Norway by an Icelander (see Stefán Karlsson 1979 ).
Names of owners occur on fols 34r, 55v and 57r.
In his catalogue of Icelandic parchment manuscripts, now known as AM. 435 a 4to, fols 40v-41r, Árni Magnússon wrote the following on the codex: Sverris saga 4to. elegans Codex, mutilus in calce. Þessa bok | feck eg i Birgvin af Mag. Ed-|vard Edvardsyne, Conrectore þar. Sverris sgu þessa 4to. hefi | eg uppskrifada in fol. med hendi Asgeirs [i.e. AM 79 fol.] og | fer hun med mier til | Danmerkur, nu 1708. | Sr Jon Halldorsson i Hitar-|dali, hafdi hana til lns | fra mier 1710. og skrif-|adi af henni Copiu firi sig.
